Sumter County Emergency Management resuming normal hours, FEMA offices open daily

SUMTER, SC (Oct. 9, 2015) – The Sumter County Emergency Management offices will be returning to normal operations beginning this afternoon, as the calls from area residents needing immediate response to the recent flooding have significantly decreased.

Area residents will still be able to reach officials at the Sumter County Emergency Management offices between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Sumter County citizens facing an emergency should still call 911.

Emergency Management officials will resume 24-hour staffing at their offices should unforeseen events occur.

At the same time, the Federal Emergency Management Agency will continue its Disaster Recovery Center at the Sumter County Civic Center, at 700 W. Liberty St. in Sumter, from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. seven days a week.

The center will be staffed by representatives from FEMA to assist area residents impacted by the recent flooding in applying for various financial assistance programs.
Area residents impacted by the flood can also begin the assistance process by registering online at DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling (800)621-FEMA (3362). Disaster assistance applicants who are deaf or hard of hearing should call (800) 462-7585 (TTY); those who use Video Relay Service may call (800) 621-3362. The toll-free telephone numbers will operate 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week until further notice.
