Public Involvement
SUATS maintains a Public Participation Plan to ensure adequate opportunities for the public to express its views on transportation issues and to become active participants in the decision-making process. The Plan describes the opportunities that will be made available to members of the general public and other interested parties to participate in planning activities and decision‐making processes pertaining to the local expenditure of federal transportation funding. The Plan sets forth the guidelines that will be followed by SUATS for public notification, conduct of public meetings, and adoption of federally‐ required transportation plans and programs.

2050 Sumter Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) Amendment #3 - Action Plan Updates and Report Card
Description: Effective June 25, 2025, SUATS will accept public review and comment on Amendment #3 to the Sumter Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP). The LRTP is used as the guide for how SUATS plans to invest in the area’s transportation system over a 25-year period. The LRTP includes both long-range and short-range strategies/actions that lead to the development of efficient roadways, public transportation, bicycle and pedestrian transportation, and freight connections.
LRTP Amendment Description: Amendment to revise LRTP Policy Action Items to remove inadvertent duplications, separates large aspirational goals into incremental steps, improves categorization, and adds status tags to action items. The amendment will also establish the structure for an annual report card, that will track progress made toward stated policy objectives.
