City's Curbside Junk Removal Postponed Due To Winter Weather

Publish Date
31st January 2026

The City of Sumter has postponed its annual Curbside Junk Removal week due to the winter weather. The program will now take place Monday, February 9 - Friday, February 13, 2026, and residential roll cart customers participating in the program should place all items curbside no later than Sunday, February 8 to ensure collection.

This free service allows City residential roll cart customers to dispose of large, bulky items such as furniture, appliances, mattresses, and other household goods. Hazardous materials, including paints, oils, gasoline, batteries, and pesticides, are not accepted and must be disposed of separately according to safety regulations. The program is designed to supplement regular trash collection and help keep neighborhoods clean and safe.

Visit keepsumterclean.com for the most up-to-date information, guidelines, and details on what items are accepted. By participating, residents not only declutter their homes but also contribute to a cleaner, safer community
