Sister Heath Wimberly receives highest civilian award

SUMTER, SC (22 May 2022) – Please join us in celebrating Sister Heath Wimberly on receiving the Order of the Palmetto, South Carolina’s highest civilian honor. This award is a distinguished recognition of her lifelong dedication, exceptional leadership, and tireless service to our community. We also extend our warmest congratulations on her retirement from the Friends of Swan Lake, marking the close of an extraordinary chapter of commitment and impact.

For decades, Sister Wimberly has been a steadfast pillar of the Sumter community, dedicating herself wholeheartedly to the beauty and growth of Swan Lake Iris Gardens. As an original founder of the Friends of Swan Lake Gardens, Sister’s tireless efforts have enriched our city with grace, care, and unwavering devotion.

As a permanent recognition of her impact, we are also proud to announce the upcoming renovations to the Swan Lake playground and children’s area, which will be renamed the Sister Wimberly Playground. This space will continue to inspire and bring joy to future generations - just as Sister has inspired us all.

Thank you, Sister Wimberly, for your lifetime of service. Your impact will forever be etched in the heart of our community.
