Liberty Center Renovations Completed

City/County Offices Relocating Back To Liberty Center This Week

SUMTER, S.C. (April 13, 2021) – Sumter City/County offices which were temporarily housed at the county’s facility located at 20 N. Magnolia St. are moving back into the Liberty Center this week.

The Liberty Center is located at 12 W. Liberty Street and is accessible via street parking along Liberty Street or parking lot off S. Sumter Street.

The following City/County departments are part of this move:

  • Building
  • Business License
  • Code Enforcement
  • Community Development
  • Planning
  • Support Services

All offices will be operating on limited customer service ability for the remainder of this week. Additionally, several offices will be closed for the move:

  • Building, Business License, and Planning offices will be closed for operation on Thursday, April 15 and Friday, April 16.
  • Community Development office will be closed on Wednesday, April 14, Thursday, April 15 and Friday, April 16.
  • Code Enforcement office will be closed Thursday, April 15 only.

The Liberty Center renovation was financed by funding from the Capital Sales Tax Referendum, known as the “Penny for Progress,” that Sumter County voters approved in 2014 in order to better serve the needs of Sumter residents.
