City of Sumter Inclement Weather Closings and Delays

UPDATE: Sumter, SC (Thursday, January 4, 5:30 PM)

 

Due to secondary roads still snow and ice covered and with the anticipated refreeze overnight the city admin offices have decided to close again on Friday, January 5, 2018. Parks will remain closed as well. City sanitation services and public safety will be running on their regular schedules.

 


 

UPDATE: Sumter, SC (Wednesday, January 3, 2018, 5:30 PM)

 

All City of Sumter administrative offices will be closed Thursday, January 4, 2018 due to severe weather conditions. All sanitation services, previously scheduled for Thursday, January 4, 2018 will be cancelled and resume on their regular schedule next week. Friday routes will be picked up as normal. 

 


 

UPDATE: Sumter, SC (Wednesday, January 3, 2018, 3:20 PM)

 

To exercise caution, sanitation crews have been postponed in the City for the remainder of today, January 3, 2018. Any Wednesday route, not collected today, will be collected on Thursday, January 4, provided the roads are safe for travel. We will post updates as conditions change.

 


Sumter, SC (Wednesday, January 3, 2018, 12:15 PM)

 

Due to the expected threat of inclement weather, all City of Sumter Administrative Offices will be closing today at 1:30 PM, January 3, 2018.

 

According to the National Weather Service, the Sumter area is now in the expected 2-3 inches of snow.  Onset of snow fall is estimated about 3 PM. Heaviest bans of snow for the midlands are estimated between 2-5 PM and the system is expected to move out of the area between 9-10 PM.

 

All City parks will also be closing at 2 PM until further notice.
