Youth Programs

The Palmetto Tennis Center offers a wide variety of Youth Programs through the PTC Performance Training Center year-round for kids ages 3-18. Our programs are designed to help new and experienced players develop their game and our more advanced programs hone critical skills to take your child's game to the next level. Four on-site tennis pros with more than 75 combined years of experience and a full-service pro shop provide everything you need from service and gear to training.


Youth Training Schedule

Spinners: Ages 3-4 

• Focus is on movement, balance, coordination and basic tennis skills.
• Goal: To form a foundation for tots on the tennis court.
(Parents are invited to join their children on court)

      Foam Ball
$10 per Clinic

Drop Shots: Ages 5-7

Tuesday & Thursday 3:30-4:15 pm
• Focus is on basic physical skills such as sending and receiving, balance, throwing, catching, and tracking.
• Goal: Player has the ability to "rally" ball back and forth with a coach or parent.

        Red Ball 1 & 2
$13 per Clinic

Slammers: Ages 6-10

Tuesday & Thursday 4:15-5:15 pm
• Focus is on physical skills such as sending and receiving, balance, throwing, catching, tracking, agility, and more complex
• Players begin to understand the concepts of serving, rallying, scoring and match play.
• Goal: Player has the ability to "rally" with coach or parent as well as with another player of like ability.
• Beginning to understand the concepts of serving, rallying, and scoring.

       Orange Ball 1 & 2
$13 per Clinic

Hot Shots: Ages 8-11

Monday & Wednesday 4:30-5:30 pm

• This  PTC program is designed for players at an advanced level of Orange Ball play.  Play will be on the 60’ court and will emphasize rallying games, match play, and sportsmanship. 
• Focus will be on basic technique of groundstrokes, volleys, and serves.  Beginning to understand  point decision making, shot selection, and full court point play strategies.   
• Goal:  To keep players motivated to be tennis athletes.  The players will be prepared to participate in events such as Team Challenges, Team Tournaments, Junior Team Tennis, and Round Robins.

       Orange and Green Ball 1 & 2

Aces: Skills Placement

Monday & Wednesday 4:00-5:00 pm
• Focus is on the physical skills associated with being able to play the game.
• Players will be challenged more to use good technique and will be expected to play independently on the 60’ court.
• Aces to Performance will be determined by kids participation in Fun Fridays, USTA Play Days, and any USTA intro or higher        tournament participation.
• Goal: Perfecting the skills in organized play.
• Players in this group will advance to Performance once they have their skills and abilities enhanced for full commitment.

       Green Ball
$13 per 

Challengers: Beginner 11-18

Designed to help beginning players ages 11-18 improve basic skills including strokes and point construction.

Tuesday & Thursday 5:00-6:00 pm
• Focus is on stroke technique and development.
• Players in this group have limited experience and are looking for the basic skills to get started.
• Goal: Player develops the ability to serve, rally, and score.
• Players in this group are interested in learning the necessary skills in their first steps to possibly play on a school tennis team.

       Green and Yellow Ball
$15 per Clinic

10 & Under Program (USTA NET GENERATIONS)
The 10 & Under Program is designed to get kids involved in tennis from the start. This learning format, from smaller courts, racquets and balls to different scoring systems, makes it easier for kids ten and under to pick up the game, even if they've never held a racquet before. 


Schedules are based on standard schedule. Schedules may vary due to Summer, Holiday, Tournaments, Weather and other programming. 

Junior Training Schedule

Intermediate, Ages 8 - 18

Monday & Wednesday: 4:30 - 6:00 pm
The focus of this clinic is on stroke production and match play situations. Players will be encouraged to participate throughout the year in different events. Goals include the ability to rally while sustaining stroke mechanics. Most are taking, or have taken, private lessons.

High Performance
Advanced, 18 & Under

Tuesday & Thursday: 5:00 - 6:30 pm (Saturdays during High School Team Play)
High Performance is an immersion of tactical and competitive work and play based drills. Advanced
players, top high school players, and top tournament players will find themselves challenged physically and mentally. Advanced level play requires commitment to excellence and the willingness to achieve goals during clinics and on their own time.

Come join us for a great camp experience that will be fun for all players.  Each day will offer a new theme designed to keep players motivated towards improving their tennis skills.

Junior Quick Start

Tennis is a sport for life and one that can be learned to play at almost any age.  If you have tried other sports and want to try tennis as a junior youth you can!  Do you know a junior youth that has never played a sport and may be interested now but is concerned they may not make the team?  Maybe you are a junior youth that just wants to learn how to play another outdoor sport.  Tennis is relatively easy to learn to play on a social level. The Junior Quick Start Program is a six week program; includes weekly instruction and includes a Wilson racquet that will have you playing tennis upon completion. 

The PTC Tennis Professionals will help each of the Quick Start Juniors move into the desired direction of play after the six week program.  Learn to play recreational or for their school team!
