In an effort to keep our Citizens informed on the maintenance and cleanup of the 2015 flood and where we go from here...

The City of Sumter, Oswego and Rembert water systems are all under a boil water advisory, until further notice. Residents should boil any water used for consumption (food prep and drinking). Bring water to boil and allow water to boil for at least one minute.

If you see barricades or cones on any road or sidewalk, don't move or drive around traffic cones and barriers. Some local roads and sidewalks are closed until they are deemed safe by state and local officials. Moving barriers put other people's lives at risk. Only authorized officials are allowed to remove these barriers. Trust us, it's not worth the risk.

Residents are advised not to play or walk in flood or standing water.
Return home only when authorities say it's safe.
Be aware of the areas where floodwaters have receded and watch out for debris. Floodwaters often erode roads and walkways.
Do not attempt to drive through areas that are still flooded.
Avoid standing water as it may be electricity charged from underground or down power lines .
Photograph damage to your property for insurance purposes.
Avoid animals and other wildlife that may have been displaced by flooding; snakes, spiders, alligators, etc.
