Come join the Sumter Tennis Association!
The Sumter Tennis Association (STA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization focused on promoting tennis in Sumter and the surrounding communities. We host monthly “mixer” events where players meet and play tennis with friends, and then enjoy some refreshments and socializing after.
In addition to keeping STA members informed about tennis happenings in our area, STA also coordinates weekly tennis groups, supports USTA league play, and hosts tennis tournaments. Joining STA is a great way to get connected in the Sumter tennis community!

6 May (Wed)/9:30-10:30 AM - Senior Red Ball Class
8 May (Fri)/6-9 PM - Team Shaw Tennis Clinic
16 May (Sat)/9:30-10:30 AM - Parent Child Mixer - Join other tennis parents and their kids on the hardcourts for a morning of fun
22 May (Fri)/6-8 PM- Second Annual Red Ball ProAm - A seasoned tennis player (Pro) will be paired up with a "new to tennis" entrant (Am) for a fun, round robin style competition. No experience or equipment needed!
29 May (Fri)/6-9 PM – “French Open” Mixer - To be played on clay - Potluck to follow!
27 June (Sat)/9 AM – 1 PM – “Breakfast at Wimbledon”
24 July (Fri)/6-9 PM – July Mixer
1 August (Sat)/10AM-12pm - By popular demand, we are adding in a quarterly event outside of our traditional Friday mixers. Format TBD.
14 August (Fri)/6-9 PM – “Back-to-School” Mixer - Players donate school supplies to help kids go back to school fully prepared to learn!
13 September (Sun)/8AM-7PM – STA Open Sunday Funday Tournament
September (TBD) - Expect PTC to host their annual "US Open Mixer" early Sep
9 Oct (Fri)/6-9 PM – October Mixer (clay courts – good practice for Tennis 4 Turkeys!)
16-18 Oct (Fri-Sun) – 2026 “Tennis 4 Turkeys” (clay courts) mixed doubles charity tournament hosted by Shaw-Sumter Community Council/Shaw AFB First Sergeants to support military families
13 Nov (Fri)/6-9 PM – Chili Cook-off and Mixer with the USC Sumter Fire Ants
4 Dec (Fri)/6-9 PM – Holiday Toy Drive Mixer - Players donate toys for local kids who might go without this Holiday season
