Sumter and Duke Energy to Unveil Newest Electric Vehicle Charging Station Downtown

SUMTER, SC (26 JULY 2023) – The City of Sumter, in partnership with Duke Energy, to unveil the community’s newest Park and Plug Electric Vehicle (EV) charging station with a ribbon cutting at the Sumter Opera House Parking Lot. Scheduled for August 1, with a ceremony beginning at 11 AM, the City of Sumter invites the community to celebrate in this dedication to clean energy and innovation. Members of the media are invited, as well. Demonstrations on how to use the EV Stations will be available and light refreshments will be served.

The ceremony will highlight Sumter’s advanced footprint in the EV industry, with the newest addition becoming one of eight EV chargers in the community. Collaborating with Duke Energy, who is closely integrated with the EV transition, the city is excited to showcase a partnership that brings further driving options to the citizens of Sumter.
