Residential CARDBOARD

A new request must be made for each week’s pickup. Please be sure to flatten all cardboard boxes before placing them at the curb.

Residential Garbage

Residential household garbage is picked up at the curbside for all residents inside the City limits. There is a monthly $13.00 charge for garbage and yard debris collection from the curb, which is reflected each month on your water bill.

The City furnishes one roll cart for each resident. If additional carts are needed, they may be purchased from the City of Sumter Utility Billing Office by calling (803) 436-2541.

A full list of fees can be found here (PDF, 58.7 KB)(opens in a new tab).

Residents are reminded of the following for residential garbage pickup:

  • Place roll cart at curb with handles toward house by 7 a.m., and leave out until 7 p.m.
  • Close roll cart container lid completely.
  • Do not put trash bags on top of or beside roll cart.
  • Ensure three (3) feet of free space on all sides.
