Road and Safety Upgrades Underway on Bultman and Guignard Drive

A 3.17-mile stretch of Bultman Dr./Guignard Dr.—from Broad Street to Neely Street—is set to be repaved by the end of 2026 as part of the South Carolina Department of Transportation’s (SCDOT) 2025 Pavement Improvement Program.

In partnership with the City of Sumter and SUATS—the Sumter Area Transportation Study, which helps plan and fund local transportation projects—SCDOT is also adding several safety features to the corridor. Improvements will include brighter crosswalks, clearer lane markings, concrete medians, and flashing pedestrian signals at Wactor St. and Oxford St.

Sidewalk and concrete repairs are already underway and will continue over the coming months as they prepare the area for paving.
