Our Matinee Series is a lineup of family-friendly shows covering a wide range of shows from Shakespeare to Pete the Cat! These shows are specially designed to teach kids of all ages about everything from the importance of good nutrition, to classic literature, to anti-bullying and science. "Pete the Cat" is back at the Sumter Opera House! When Pete the Cat gets caught rocking out after bedtime, the cat-catcher sends him to live with the Biddle family to learn his manners and how to be a house pet–something that Pete is most certainly NOT! For the groovy blue cat, life is an adventure no matter where you wind up though. Join Pete and his new pal Jimmy Biddle on a journey of friendship, all the way to Paris and back in a VW Bus. Based on the children’s book series by Kimberly and James Dean, this musical performance is sure to delight! It comes to the Sumter Opera House on October 11th at 9:30AM, 12:00PM, and 7:00PM, so make sure you catch this rocking show! Recommended for grades K4-2nd.
The ULTIMATE kid's & family science entertainment show - put on by the zany hillbilly Dr Cletus Beaker, MD. He likes Jack in the Box food, them fancy sodee pop machines with all them flavers you can mix, and showin kids how to have fun through science! Oh yea, and blowin' things up! Bring your whole family to laugh and learn at the Sumter Opera House on November 7th. Performances are at 9:30 AM and 11:30 AM.

The Warehouse Theatre’s production of William Shakespeare’s "Macbeth" is coming soon to the Sumter Opera House! Explore Shakespeare’s classic tragedy in this performance by one of the leading Shakespeare touring groups in the Carolinas. The Warehouse Theatre brings the Bard’s words to life in a way which draws in students and adults to experience the classic theater that our modern world borrows. Make sure to attend the matinee performance on October 25th at 10:00 AM!
Artrageous is a one of a kind interactive performance that incorporates many different art forms on the same stage. Their Artreach program aims to take students behind the scenes, showing them what it means to be a performing artist today, answering their questions, and introducing them to different art mediums. Building on their nearly 30 years as a traveling entertainment troupe, the Artrageous team presents students with what it takes to be a real-life artist and run a company. They also will perform for students a shortened version of their Main Stage Series presentation. Help the young people in your life see what real possibilities wait in the arts, as well as amaze them with a multi-media performance! This opportunity will only be available at the Sumter Opera House on January 17th at 11:00 a.m.! Recommended for grades 6-12.
