Communications and Tourism Director
Shelley Kile has been with the City since June 2012. She is responsible for city-wide communications as well as Tourism through the Swan Lake Visitors Center and the Sumter Convention & Visitors Bureau.
Shelley moved to Sumter from Vancouver, Washington where she previously coordinated marketing and public relations for one of the largest analytical testing service firms in the world. She has also held managerial roles in Economic Development, Community Planning, Fundraising and Continuing Education in various government and non-profit organizations across the Southeastern United States.
Shelley holds a Bachelors of Science in Journalism and Advertising from West Virginia University and is currently pursuing her Masters in Public Administration at Troy University. She is currently certified as a Public Information Officer and a CORE 4 Business Planning Instructor and is a former FEMA certified Floodplain Manager.
She is member of the City-County Communications & Marketing Association, National Association of Photoshop Professionals and the Public Relations Society of America, including the Columbia SC Chapter. She is Vice Chair for the Young Professionals of Sumter and an active volunteer with the Sumter Junior Welfare League.
