Proclamation "USC Sumter 45th Year Anniversary"

The Universityof South Carolina Sumterfirst opened its doors in August 1966 as ClemsonUniversityat Sumterlater transformed to the Universityof South Carolina Sumterin September of 1973. The Universityof South Carolina Sumtercelebrates the beginning of its 45th year of service and has provided quality higher educational services to those who have entered its doors in search of higher learning. This institution has served more than 50,000 students through its undergraduate and graduate programs in daytime and evening classes at its Sumter and Shaw AFB campuses. Thousands of individuals have benefited from professional development programs, teleconferences, and seminars provided through the Office of Continuing Education & Telecommunications. TheUniversity ofSouth Carolina Sumter has enriched the lives of thousands of individuals who have attended it lectures, readings, performances and exhibits of works. TheUniversity ofSouth Carolina Sumter’s faculty, staff and students continually involve themselves in many worthy endeavors which benefit this community and makeSumter a better place in which to live, learn, work and play.


NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT I, Joseph T. McElveen, Jr., Mayor of the City of Sumter, do hereby proclaim January 1, thru December 31, 2011
