“National Day of Action”
Learning happens everywhere a child goes, but parents, grandparents, and caregivers may not always know how to support that learning.
That won't be the case at Crosswell Park Sumter, SC. When Mom, Dad, Grandparent or other family members take their young child to Crosswell Park; they'll be able to play fun games together that will help the child come to school ready to succeed.
That is because United Way of Sumter, Clarendon and Lee counties, City of Sumter, and local volunteers will be creating an outdoor interactive early learning trail to help parents, grandparents and caregivers turn excursions into fun learning moments.
The Born Learning Trail is a series of learning activities that any adult can play with young children.
Based on the latest early childhood research and approved by national early learning experts through United Way of America, the Born Learning Trail is designed to help adults interact with children to boost language and literacy development and to help caregivers understand how to best support early learning in outdoor everyday moments.
Saturday June 21st at 8:00 am during the National Day of Action United Way of Sumter, Clarendon and Lee Counties Volunteers will gather for the kick off at Crosswell Park. The Born Learning Trail will then come alive Saturday morning at 8:30 am as volunteers begin painting with vibrant colors along the trail and signs will be installed to help adults interact with children. June 21st is United Way’s National Day of Action… and some of the action is taking place at Crosswell Park with the installation of the new Born Learning Trail.
