Commercial garbage service is offered to businesses inside the City limits. We have two size dumpsters and offer once through six times a week service for a fee. This fee is added onto the businesses water bill. We also offer the ninety gallon containers to commercial businesses for a fee, which is also added to the water bill. YARD TRASH COLLECTION, RESIDENTIAL AND COMMERCIAL
Yard Trash is picked up from residential houses and commercial businesses, who have dumpster service, inside the City limits. Trash is picked up once a week excluding holidays. We do not pickup construction debris, such as concrete, metal debris, wood, shingles, and carpet. We do not pickup any white goods, such as washer and dryers. We also have some restrictions on the sizes and length of yard debris (ex. grass clippings, leaves, limbs, etc.).
We also have a route that picks up yard trash for approximately 25 streets in the County. We do this in an effort to help the County stay clean.
The City of Sumter takes pride in your community and we need your assistance during the fall season. Sumter City Code Section 74-48 specifies that leaves picked up during the leaf season shall be enclosed in disposable bags, securely tied and placed at a location near the curbside for the collection process. Violators are subject to the appropriate fine. Please join with us to insure that leaves do not blow into neighborhood road ways, onto adjoining properties and can be transferred to the landfill without blowing onto the highways. Together we can make Sumter litter free. Sumter Clean is Sumter Seen.
